How do you find your candidates?

We are constantly scouring the market, every day, for top talent from the Cannabis industry AND other industries. We use a variety of platforms and tools to achieve this. We’re also active in the community, attending events such as (digital) conferences, (digital) panels and (online) meet-ups where you’ll find us (virtually) shaking hands and (virtually) kissing babies.

What is the average time White Ash Group takes to submit resumes for open requisitions?

2-3 days. Sometimes shorter. However, we continue to scour the market and our database and our Account Executives will continue to submit qualified candidates until the position has been filled, making strategic adjustments as needed. For an Executive Search, the submission time may be a tad bit longer.

What makes you different than other agencies?

We are a Cannabis specific firm meaning we live, breathe and die by the industry, day in and day out. We understand the plights of the industry. We are up to date on the developments and industry news. We also do not passively recruit through job boards. Instead, we proactively hunt for talent. Finally, we are small but not too small, making us agile, nimble, flexible and easy to work with.

What are your hours of operation?

At White Ash Group we work around the clock, because we operate in several different time zones and have a team that is really committed and passionate about what we do. We’re always available!

How long have you been in business?

A little over 3 years but our team is comprised of awesome individuals, with a collective 25+ years of experience in recruitment in Canada, The US, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Where does the name White Ash Group come from?

White Ash is a reference to quality. Veteran cannabis consumers will know that when Cannabis is burned and the ash is a grey or white color, it means the Cannabis was properly cured, flushed and dried making it extremely high quality. This is a metaphor for our company. We strive to only work with the highest quality talent and clients and deliver a high quality recruitment experience.

What type of companies do you work with?

As long as the company operates and contributes to the Cannabis industry, we’ll be there to support. MSOs, LPs, Extraction, Processing, Technology, Hardware, Brands, consumer goods, research and development. You name it. Check out our Services page for more detail.

Does it cost me anything to have you represent me for a job?

No! White Ash Group does not charge any candidate/job-seeker/job-applicant for the work we do! It is absolutely free to work with us. Check out open job opportunities here.

I’m a potential client looking to do some hiring. What are your fees like?

The truth is, we are flexible. Fees are determined based on number of hires, and several other factors and can be negotiated. Standard recruitment industry fees are around 20-25% of first year salary.

Do you only provide candidates with Cannabis experience?

No! We identify and submit the right candidates, with the right experience, whether they be from pharmaceuticals or alcohol or CPG, etc. The only thing strictly Cannabis is our clients!

Who started the company?

Jerome Hoyte and Graydon Welbourn are co-founders of the company. Through fortuitous events the two met at a coffee shop in Toronto and the rest is history.
